Bain Capital Ventures Rolls Out $560M Crypto Fund
One of the world’s leading private investment firms Bain Capital Ventures launches a $560 million fund, which is, for the first time ever, focused only on cryptocurrency projects.
Bain Capital was a significant investor in the cryptocurrency industry over the past seven year. BlockFi Inc., Compound and Digital Currency Group are some of their funded companies.
”We have high conviction we are at the beginning of a multi-decade technology shift.
It was essential that we had a team of dedicated professionals and an appropriate fund structure. That’s really what lead to the addition of Bain Capital Crypto,”
Stefan Cohen, managing partner at Bain Capital Crypto, told Bloomberg.
Bain Capital sees continued growth in crypto even though it was launched in uncertain times, when the market had dropped almost 40% from its peak in November.
“We are fundamentally long-term oriented, 10 year fund. We have a long perspective. We do not care much about short-term market fluctuations. We accept the market’s uncertainty, and we believe in long-term investing. When the certainty is there, it might be too late for this market,”
Cohen said.
The company aims to fund around 30 companies – from crypto startups to DAOs and plans to use the whole fund in the next two to three years.
